How to start Anthropology!

“ Anthropology demands the open-mindedness with which one must look and listen, record in astonishment and wonder that which one would not have been able to guess”   ~ Margaret Mead If I put myself in the shoes of a beginner, who is just starting anthropology preparation or making up his/her mind for choosing anthropology then this blog post is for that “me”. I hope it also helps you, if you are starting your preparation. First and foremost, Read Ember and ember, it is very interesting book. I read marriage, family, kinship and other socio cultural part from it. Coming from the science background I was not knowing such aspects of society, it widened my horizon of seeing the things. Culture relativism and holism were truly amazing. This book is good for building the interest in anthropology. After reading it, I felt that anthropology would suit me and I never looked back at any other optional. Secondly, I have shared the list of resources I followed. Cover one by one, like genetics, so

How I prepared for UPPSC along with UPSC

2020 attempt So, in 2020 I attempted UPSC prelims in October and after one week attempted UPPSC also. I did so because my mother wanted me to do so. I was focusing entirely on UPSC only in my first attempt . However, I also thought of having a backup plan as upsc is always uncertain. UPPSC prelims was 1 week after UPSC prelims and I haven’t studied anything extra apart from upsc preparation.  So, in the one week I had I did following things:  I attempted 4-5 years previous year questions and got accustomed with the nature and pattern of this prelims.  I found that static part is almost same and I can deal it, for dynamic national current affairs are already covered (UPSC preparation) and I can safely leave UP specific questions in exam if they ask such.  I came to know that UPSC ask 100 questions whereas UPPSC ask 150 questions in the same time. However, UPPSC questions are pretty direct and they can be solved in less time. So, time management was not an issue.  During exam I attempted

Hi Guys, My name is  Dwij Goel and I have secured AIR 71 in UPSC CSE 2022 and would be joining IAS soon. I come from a small town named Kharkhauda, near Meerut, U.P.  After finishing my basic education from Meerut, I have done B.Tech in mechanical engineering from NIT- Bhopal. After my graduation in 2019, I worked for a year in Hero MotoCorp limited, Gurgaon as Assistant Manager.   In September 2020, I left my job to prepare full time for upsc. In my first attempt (2020) I cleared prelims but couldn’t clear mains. But, meanwhile I got selected in UPPSC(state services) but I was not satisfied with it so didn’t join.  In 2021, I improved, plugged all loopholes and attempted mains in January 2022 with all my heart. After mains, I also started working on some of my ideas apart from UPSC. Between Mains and interview I Co-founded an EdTech startup with my friend and worked 3-4 months, but eventually it failed due to some flaw in marketing, and it was a setback for me. I got upsc interview cal

GS 2 strategy

GS2(Strategy and sources ) GS2 broadly covers 3 sections namely polity, governance and international relations. Here I would be writing about each in a comprehensive manner.  I would like to mention here that I didn’t take any formal coaching of GS or optional from any institute , if anybody is using my name, report it. However, as upsc demands different kind of value addition and test series, I used them from some of the institutions which I would be clearly mentioning here.  Polity   Sources :  1. M. Laxmikant for basics as it was my only source for prelims as well.  2. Value addition: landmark judgement: only ias booklet  3. Dawn Lady!

We wake up early when it’s still inky World’s snoozing and snooping   When we run for our purpose, for our living Thee, for belly feeding and I for healing  Thee for wealth and I for health. We are similar, yet so different. Your face smeared but eyes glittered  Searching for the silent stars,  Which also I do, I in sky you on earth Your crimson-yellow scarf secure your scars, my black hood the bars! And We both disappear as the sun appears! Still, street dogs seems not so friendly to you as they are to me,  Probably that’s why you carry a stick which is untold to me.  Thy shoulder carries a big sack, as if bearing the Titan's load,  Thy hands toil in tandem, as mine in the pockets act like nil happened.  We seem similar, yet so different  You walk slow, while I wish to run Yet we have an unspoken conversation Eyes talk, they say Never faithed that, but today I may As we pace the same path together Same yet so different Though, We seek happiness in the thi
